Mel and Duncan's colourful Easter Wedding

Mel and Duncan were married on Easter Saturday this year in what turned out to be a dry and gorgeous ceremony although it had rained most of the week.

Mel and Duncan's sense of fun shone throughout their gorgeous 50's carnival style wedding.

Photographer at Large captured these stunning images so perfectly. As you can see colour was a huge inspiration for them and was used beautifully throughout the venue of The Yacht Club Mooloolaba with these gorgeous coloured jars and flowers.

Photographer At Large also took these gorgeous photos of our cake. The colour scheme for the cake was based purely on the bunting which was hand made by a darling friend of mine Heather after Mel picked the gorgeous colour scheme.
The sugar paste bride and groom were made to match Duncan and Mel as close as I could right down to her sparkling silver shoes.

I enjoyed creating these sugar paste accents for this cupcake tower with little things like stripes and spots incorporated in the fondant. Cute little striped pinwheels and spotted ruffles delicately hand made with lots of love. The cakes were chocolate mud and white chocolate mud with vanilla buttercream and the cutting cake Red velvet with white chocolate ganache and finished in sugar paste.

Gemma and Alex's Wedding - Boreen Point

On a stunning Sunshine Coast day, 16th March 2013, Gemma and Alex where married on the lawn of the Apollonian Hotel at Booren Point. After all the rain we have had it was so lovely that they had a gorgeous sunny day.

The ceremony and reception was both held outside and had been decorated mainly by friends and family using a range of fresh and fake flowers an paper lanterns hung in the trees.

The cake was three layers of chocolate mud cake covered white chocolate ganache then finished in ivory sugar paste.

The bow was made from sugar paste. Such a simple but elegant design, I love how it came up.

Trudy and Brendan Wedding

Trudy and Brendan were married on the 16th February 2013 in the month of LOVE. Trudy requested personalised figurines for her and Brendan. Their cake was Caramel mud cake top and Cherry Ripe mud cake base.

Apricot and Pale blue was the colour scheme, Trudy was wearing pale blue shoes as you can see poking out from the bottom of her dress.

Apricot stencilling on the base tier.

Trudy only has eyes for Brendan

Included were the important details such as a shopping bag for Trudy and a barbell for Brendan.

Loved creating this cake. x Skye

The month of LOVE

February is often referred to as the month of LOVE with valentines day coming around fast.
This week I was asked to make an Anniversary cake for a good friend of mine who has been married for 32 years. He surprised his wife with this gorgeous cake.

This is a different style than I usually do. White Chocolate shards. Yumm! White chocolate mud cake filled with white chocolate ganache and finished with White chocolate shards. Topped with sugar paste roses.

I loved how it turned out :) Skye

Weddings At Tiffany's Showcase January 2013

This weekend Weddings at Tiffany's opened its doors to the Sunshine Coast for all to see. Yesterday  (Saturday 12th Jan) the coast turned on a stunning summer day with the temperature soaring above 30 degrees. Inside the gorgeous air conditioned chapel and reception area it was cool and lovely with breath taking views of the Glasshouse Mountains.

Wedding Chapel- Weddings at Tiffanys

We at Sunny Girl Cakes loved showcasing our of cakes and enjoyed speaking to lots of couples about their upcoming wedding. Couples were offered samples of our delicious cakes and chatted about ideas and different designs. We took two display cakes which Karen from Karen Buckle Photography was generous enough to photography while she was there.

This cake is a sugar paste finished design with a hand made sugar peony. The lace drape is also made from sugar paste and the gorgeous pink ribbon picks up the soft colour of the wedding theme without being overbearing.

Our second cake was a more retro look with hand made bunting and sugar paste details to match the bunting. This type of style could be carried through from invitations to the cake to really personalise your wedding.

Hope you like our designs and if you would like to see more or speak to Skye, don't hesitate to call or email and we will be at the Sunshine Coast Bridal Showcase at Novotel Twin Waters Sunday 20th January if you would like to pop in and say hi.

Angie and Gavin - First wedding of 2013

Angie and Gavin were married at Noosa Waterfront Restaurant and Bar on Friday 4th January.

Their cake was a stunning three tiers of cherry ripe mud cake finished with rich chocolate ganache and covered in white sugar paste icing.
